The provincial government announced today that BC will move to step two of the four-step BC Restart Plan tomorrow, June 15.

Thanks to high vaccination rates (over 75 per cent of adults in BC have had at least their first dose), and most people following public health orders, COVID-19 case rates have dropped.

This means that some restrictions are now being lifted and the following activities are permitted:

  • Recreational travel within BC (but not outside the province)
  • Outdoor gatherings of up to 50 people (birthday parties, barbecues, block parties)
  • Organized indoor gatherings of up to 50 people (movie theatres, banquet halls) with a COVID-19 Safety Plan
  • Indoor team sports and fitness classes with reduced capacity
  • Indoor faith gatherings up to 50 people, or 10 per cent of the building capacity, whichever is higher
  • Alcohol service at restaurants, bars and pubs (until midnight)

Physical distancing and masks are still required in public indoor settings. Offices and workplaces are continuing a gradual return with small, in-person meetings allowed. Employers must continue following their COVID-19 safety plans and hold daily health check-ins.

Moving to Step 3 by July 1 will depend on continued high rates of vaccination, along with low COVID-19 case counts and declining hospitalizations.

We encourage all Indigenous people to be a #VaxChamp by accepting the vaccine when it is offered and letting friends or family members know why getting vaccinated was important to you. We welcome pictures and statements from everyone – youth, Elders, or the whole family!
